Funmilola Osundare, a married woman, is in the hospital after her boyfriend, who is suspected of being a ritualist, macheted her in Akure.
Her boyfriend’s leased residence in ljapo, GRA, Akure, the Ondo State capital, was the scene of the terrible tragedy.
The woman was reportedly saved by neighbors who heard her shouts. However, she suffered cuts to various places of her body as a result of the attack.
The victim’s boyfriend, a footballer, allegedly drove her to the flat he had just moved into three days before the heinous act.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around midnight, but her distress call drew the attention of her neighbors, who summoned Amotekun, a regional security organization, but the suspect escaped.
The sufferer was sent to the Police Clinic for treatment, but was turned down and referred to the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital in Akure.
After being informed by the police, Bar. Mrs Bola Joel-Ogundadegbe, Executive Secretary of the State Agency Against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (OSAA-GBV), said she informed the First Lady, Chief Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, of the incident.
Mrs Anyanwu-Akeredolu then ordered the victim to be taken to a hospital for quick treatment, promising to pay the bills.

According to her, Funmilola needed to be referred to the Federal Medical Centre so that a neurosurgeon could check her head wound.
