Appeal Court’s Order for Stay-Home For Workers Workers As Presidential Tribunal Judgement Will Take Place

The day set aside for the decision in the lawsuits contesting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s election, Wednesday, September 6, 2023, has been ordered by the Court of Appeal in Abuja as a paid holiday.

On Monday, September 4, 2023, Oluwaleye Oluwasegun David, the Chief Registrar of the Court, told the staff in a note.

On Wednesday—the day of the verdict—only those with tags will be permitted admission into the courthouse, he claimed.

According to the document, the action was made to “create a conducive and peaceful atmosphere” for the Presidential Election Tribunal’s special meeting.

Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party, and the Allied Peoples Movement all filed applications with the tribunal contesting Tinubu’s victory in the February 2023 presidential election.

The memo said: “In view of the above, very strong security apparatus have been arranged to man the entrance of the Court and also in all strategic areas of the Court Complex.

“In addition, only staff with tags provided by the Management will be allow into the Court premises. Please be informed as instructed.”
