BREAKING NEWS: Osun State Amotekun boss Amitolu Shittu reportedly resigns
Amitolu Shittu, the Osun-based Field Commander of the Western Security Network Agency (Amotekun), has submitted his resignation.
On Friday, January 20, 2023, Yusuf Idowu, the Amotekun Osun spokesperson in Osogbo, announced his resignation.
The spokesperson for Amotekun Osun further disclosed that Shittu’s resignation letter had been submitted to the Osun State Government Secretary’s office.
Although he didn’t give a reason for leaving, Shittu, who was appointed by the Osun administration of the recently-exiled Adegboyega Oyetola, wrote in his letter that he had faced “operational challenges thrown up by the enemy within the top hierarchy of the Corp due to military intrigues, vainglory, and egoism” while in office.
He was grateful to Oyetola for giving him the chance to contribute significantly to the state.
Part of the letter is read
“I, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, hereby tender my resignation as the Field Commander, Osun State Security Network Agency & Amotekun Corps today, Friday, 20th January 2023.
“I appreciate the former governor of the state, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola for the opportunity given to him to serve the state.
“I also thank the DSS, the Nigeria Police, DCP Segun Olusegun, journalists, and Corps members for their support,” the letter read.
