Fashola Finally Speaks Out After Tinubu Snubs Him
Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), a former minister of works and housing, has asserted that he is not required to hold a title in the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.
This was stated by Fashola, a trusted adviser to Tinubu, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Lagos State University, Ojo.
He went there to give the opening remarks at the university’s sixth research and innovation fair.
In response to a question about his involvement in the current administration at the federal level and the likelihood of an appointment, the former governor of Lagos State, who also served as Tinubu’s chief of staff while the president was the state’s governor, made reference to his time as Tinubu.
He said, “I do not need a title to serve: the president can only appoint at least one minister, for example, from each state which he has done that.
“There are just enough places in parastatals, they are doing that; we are estimated to be 200 million, so there are not enough offices to take everybody.
“All of us must play our roles as citizens, and a citizen does not need a title to serve.
“The biggest title you need is that of being a citizen and playing our role; we are also talking about the next generation.
”If some do not move on, where is the place for the next batch?”
He asserted that when spaces change, it is necessary to add more exceptional, public-spirited individuals to fill them.
Fashola expressed his excitement for the administration including a lot more young individuals.
