Good Samaritan Keke Driver Receives N400k Reward for Returning N15 Million
Auwalu Salisu, a 22-year-old ‘keke’ rider, received a gift of N400,000 for returning N15 million that a passenger had left behind in his tricycle.
According to reports, the passenger, a Chadian businessman, hurried to the market and forgot to take the money out of Salisu’s tricycle.
Salisu, a resident of Yankaba and a native of Kano State’s Nasarawa local government area, reportedly heard the news about the lost money on the radio and promptly returned it.
Speaking on BBC Pidgin, Salisu claimed that for once, he had never considered squandering the money because his upbringing forbade such behavior.
“The kind of upbringing given to me by my parents won’t allow me to spend it.
“As soon as I heard the announcement on Arewa Radio, I quickly went to where I kept the money and rushed down to the station to return it,” Salisu said.
Salisu was subsequently given N400,000 by the owner of the missing money, who claimed he preferred the gift than spending money that wasn’t a product of his labor.
“I am happy about the N400,000 and I will ensure to use it wisely,” he said.
