Kogi PDP suffers major blow as over 1000 members defect to APC
Prior to the Kogi state governorship election on November 11, more than 1,000 PDP members have switched to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This is in accordance with a statement made by Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, the state’s information commissioner, on August 31, 2023.
Members who have become infected are reportedly from the Ukwo and Odaki wards in the state’s Koton Karfe town.
As the PDP LG Assistant Secretary, former Gegu North ward chairman, former Councilor from Gegu North, and the PDP leader in zone C, Alhaji Idris Ibrahim Tanahu, joined the APC, it was also claimed that high party leaders were not exempt from the detection.
Tanahu joined the ruling party as a result of Governor Yahaya Bello’s outstanding accomplishments in the Local Government Area (LGA) and the state as a whole, as well as what was characterized as the “sterling leadership qualities of the APC governorship candidate, Alh. Ahmed Ododo.”
Alh Idris Ibrahim Tanahu pointed out that PDP members who are still in the party share characteristics with the party’s nominee for governor in the state.
I feel sorry for people who continue to identify with the opposition’s cast of characters, he remarked. They don’t have any followers since many of them lack the leadership skills exhibited by Alh. Yahaya Bello and Alh. Usman Ododod. We have made the decision to join the group of morally upright individuals.
Defectors haven’t stopped praising the Hon. Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Engr. Bashir Gegu, for making a good difference in people’s life and luring well-intentioned developments to the region.
Ibrahim Mohammed, one of the defectors, argued that it would be unthankful for Kogi LGA residents to not support the APC in a resounding manner, pointing out that the APC administration had prioritized important and life-changing developments in the LGA, such as power and a cutting-edge hospital.
