Lagos state government set to crashes another 2,228 motorcycles

The Lagos Task Force has smashed another set of 2,228 commercial motorcycles as part of its efforts to guarantee that the okada ban is fully implemented and enforced.

The okada operators, according to the Force’s head, have breached the state’s Transport Reform Laws by their acts.

Meanwhile, Lagos State Governor Babatunde Sanwo-Olu has declared Okada illegal on all highways in the state’s six local government areas and nine local council development zones.

On Friday, June 3, the Lagos State Task Force will crush another batch of 2,228 impounded commercial motorcycles known as Okadas.

According to The Punch, the taskforce’s leader, CSP Shola Jejeloye, a chief superintendent of police, announced the announcement in a statement released on Thursday, June 2.

Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the director of publicity and public relations, signed the statement.

Following the announcement of a total ban on operation of commercial motorcycles popularly known as Okada on all highways across six local government areas and nine local council development areas of the state by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Sanwo-Olu, the Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Shola Jejeloye, has said that the agency will on Friday crush another set of 2,228 impounded motorcycles to further make the enforcement of the ban thorough and effective.

Jerjeloy stated that the agency’s efforts would be stepped up.

According to Jejeloye, the chairman stated that the agency will increase its efforts to ensure that all impounded motorcycles are crushed once appropriate process is followed.

Although the Okada operators’ compliance rate is excellent and encouraging, Jejeloye stated that they (operators) cannot be trusted.
