Alexa’s POV
I took a cold shower, dressed up in my casual outfit and walked out of my room to meet Andrew.
What could I have done without that soul ?
Without him,I am just a mere lady! A lady that is broken forever!
” Feeling better?” He asked as I entered into the kitchen where he was preparing lunch for us.
” Yeah, a lot better ” I replied ….
I don’t want to remember everything that has happened in the past few days and that of this morning!
I just want to feel myself again and not stuck in Mr Kingsley’s thought of how he’d treated me.
” I am glad, now seat here likes princess while I make a quick tea for you ” he said picking me up in a bridal style.
A stranger will think we are in a kinda lovey dovey relationship.
” I can walk Andrew ” I said laughing.
” I know that buttercup, I just want to pick you up so sit here and watch me do everything. A Queen shouldn’t be stressed, only some fools that doesn’t know your worth does that ”
He tone changed into that of a anger gritting his teeth while placing me on the kitchen counter.
” I don’t want to think about anything that will change my mood right now, all I want to think of is my buttercup and her happiness ”
He replied going back to the gas. My best friend is more than thousand boyfriends!
I can never choose anyone over him, he will always remain my first love, my brother and my bet friend.
He fetched a quantity of hot water and added the tea ingredients then handed it to me.
” Thank you best ” I said sincerely. I haven’t thanked him since morning.
Even when he has a photo shoot that moment I called him, he told them to cancel it and he came right to my aid at the company.
And now instead of him to go back as he already dropped me, he’s making lunch for me and took a day off .
” Anything for you” he winked making me chuckle.
” While you were taking your bath, I called my brother and you are to resume work tomorrow. No interview, or should I say I am the interviewer and I already interviewed you? I know my best friend is good for the job ”
He said and my face beamed! I don’t know I will ever get a job again!
At least, not this fast and bigger! I will be a manager!
Promoted without doing anything!
” Are you serious Andrew?” I asked.
” Of course buttercup, you start work tomorrow and your pay is lit. I already told my brother to double it for you. You are not just a worker but my best friend”
Aww!
I flew from the table he placed me earlier hugging him like my life depended on it.
” I can’t thank you enough Andrew, I am very grateful for having you in my life ” I said.
If all guys are like him, the world could have been a better place.
” Don’t mention buttercup, I am not your big brother for nothing. Now if you would stop being clingy right now. I need to get done with the lunch then go right to school to pick up the kids”
He said and I nodded!
He was the only one that did not laugh at my stupidity of getting pregnant for an unknown man.
He understood and loved me the more. He took care of the kids like they were his.
I owe him forever so long as I live!

” I feel so nervous Andrew, what if they don’t like me?” I asked fidgeting with my fingers as we came down from his car.
This place looks very beautiful like that of Mr Kingsley’s too.
” You don’t have to buttercup, no one will dislike you. C’mon let’s go” he held my hand protectively.
I could see some ladies raising up their dresses to make it short and be noticed by Andrew, some flirting with their eyes while some were glaring at me.
I chuckled in my mind ! If only they know Andrew isn’t giving them any single attention.
If only they know he’s a gay, they won’t be jealous of me being next to him.
All I was hearing was good morning Sir, good morning Sir till we reached the elevator.
He answered few and smiled at few.
We stopped at the 7th floor and he pushed open on the left which was an office. His brother’s office I guess.
” Hey bro ” Andrew said as I trailed behind him with my head bowed.
That’s my new boss, I should give him some respect!
” I have told you countless times to knock before entering into my office Andrew, why can’t you follow a simple instruction?”
His brother asked and my stupid best friend shrugged!
I gulped as his eyes landed on me!
” Alexa?”
My head snapped to him with a frown as I heard him call my name !
I have been friends with Andrew for years now and I only know his parents and sister so how did he know my name?
I stared at him as he stared back at me with shock!
Did he know me from somewhere?
” Good… morning Sir ” I greeted to ease the tension.
I can’t remember this face at all, Andi can’t remember meeting him anywhere!
This should be the first time I am seeing him and he called me by my first name unlike Mr Kingsley.
He was so harsh even on my first day!
If all the bosses are like him, I’d rather die of poverty!
Turning into a begged will be better than working under him.
And him, he must be very happy that I left!
I just hope he’s not planning on ruining my life like he always threatened.
Loosing this job again is what I don’t want.
” Are you saying you don’t know me Alexa? Remember the guy you bumped into the other day at J group of company ” he explained,…
Ah! How could I have forgotten? Mr Kingsley asked me to bring a file in 5seconds and I bumped into him in haste.
Uhmm!
” Mr Eric?” I called with my eyes widened in shock!
” Oh Alexa, cut the formalities, call me Eric ”

Alexa’s POV
” You two know each other?” Andrew asked glancing at me and Eric.
I can’t believe he will turn out to be Andrew’s brother gosh!
This world is indeed a small place.
I nodded my head smiling at him.
” I guess there’s no need for any introduction then ” he said taking a seat opposite his brother.
” Wow! Andrew you never told me you have a beautiful lady as a best friend ” Eric said and I bowed my head with my cheeks flushed.
” I am very sorry for the other day Mr..I mean Eric, I was in haste to submit a file to Mr Kingsley ” I apologized and I heard him chuckled.
” It nothing Alexa, please sit ” he said gesturing to the chair beside Andrew which I did.
” You are welcome to Reese corporation, I will love you to stay on this floor with me for easy access so you take the office after mine ” he said
” Thank you ”
” Such a humble lady, I wonder how that asshole will let go of a lady like you ” he whispered but I heard it.
Andrew and I exchanged looks then I looked down!
I just wish I could forget about that Mr Kingsley forever but I don’t think that’s happening soon.
His name seems to be everywhere around me.
” You can go to your office, I will inform my secretary to put you through ” he announced.
I glanced at Andrew smilling genuinely at him.
” Thank you Andrew ” I said standing up while he grinned.
” Anything for you buttercup, see you around” he replied and I nodded.
It was easy to locate the office because according to him, it’s right behind his so yeah!
I got it!
I believe things will be better here, Eric isn’t like Mr Kingsley.
There are way too different and apart!;
I wish he was just like Eric, he isn’t even seeing me as an employer!

Really? When I researched about her yesterday, it never occurred to me that my brother was the Andrew in the picture.
The very one Jeff refer to as Alexa’s husband.
I chuckled over his stupidity, I am sure going to make him suffer before he gets her back.
That girl, there’s something about her that I like and I can’t really place a finger on.
” And big bro, do not mention that Jeffery’s name in her presence. It almost turned her mood sour ”
Andrew said and I narrowed my eyes at him.
” Seriously Andrew, how come I never knew she is your friend?” I asked
He rolled his eyes taking the cheeps on my desk.
” How would you know when you spent literally all your life in America? You attended your highschool there, including your college as if that wasn’t enough, you were enrolled in the university there too so how did you expect to know her and besides she’s my best friend not my friend ”
He blabbered and I chuckled! That’s true though!
I barely come home even on holidays!
” Seems my kid brother is still angry with me over that, I already promised to make up for our childhood bro ” I said to him .
H snorted standing up!
” Well, I don’t want you to make up for it anymore. I am glad you are home now, all I want is Alexa’s peace of mind and safety and I leave that in your hands”
He said !
” Wait! Are you sure you don’t have feelings for her? Why did you care so much about her?” I asked bemused.
This is really amazing! I see reasons why Jeff thought they were an item.
Like look at their close relationship!
I will just get informations from him, it will be easier!
” Ah na! I love Alexa so much as a friend, her happiness is my priority bro. She’s gone through a lot and she doesn’t deserve anymore stress but you see that fuçking bastard that burnt her yesterday, I will kill him ”
He said glaring hard at the table!
Seriously?
” Who burnt her?” I found myself asking! This is more interesting than I thought!
” That Kingsley guy, I just hope I don’t see him anywhere close ” he gritted his teeth and I choked.
Jeff? He didn’t tell me about that! Why will he burn her? For what reason?
” That’s my best friend you are talking about Andrew ” I glared at him even when I know Jeff was wrong.
” And he dare touch my best friend too, how could he have purposely poured a hot coffee on her? What was her offense? Bringing it for him? ”
His eyes widened as if he just thought about something.
” wait, your best friend? How the hell on Earth did you get to know a dumbass like him? ” He snapped.
Oh is he forgetting I am the elder brother here?
” Chill bro, we’ve been friends since highschool ”
He flared his nose nodding his head!
” I know right! Just tell him to stay 100 meters away from Alexa and 1000 meters away from my sight else, I will beat him to stupor ”
He said standing up and left angrily ignoring my calls too.
My brother has that type of temper that when he says he will do something, he never goes back on his words.
Age doesn’t matter, Andrew can be very dangerous when he’s angry!
I as his elder brother is very afraid to get him angry and Jeff?
He should be prepared for it, I can’t wait to watch the show!
Maybe the beating will reset his brain!
I guess it’s time to start messing with him!
I brought out my phone and dialed his number! Time for fun!!

Jeff’s POV
I sighed frustratedly running my hands through my hair .
I have been sitting here for almost two hours without being able to do a thing.
The thought of Alexa clouded my head.
I miss nagging at her, I miss seeing her determined face. Fúck! I miss her!
I wish I can go back to the past and become a little nicer to her.
I fling the documents Stella brought earlier for review! That’s the least of my problems now.
Going to her house is out of it, what if she pours hot water on me to get back at me?
The more I remember her, the more guilty I feel!
I ignored her red hand and chest the day I poured a coffee on her yet she didn’t complain.
But I went extreme by insulting her family and personality!
Bringing up two children by yourself isn’t an easy task!
And their father? Eric didn’t get a clue about it yesterday!
I just wish I can know her past!
I rubbed my knuckles together glancing at my phone that was beeping.
Eric!

His sharp voice came in loudly!

I asked

My heart sank at that? She got another job? She wasn’t thinking of coming back?
📲 Jeff! She just came in today and have won the award of my best worker for the month, you lost a treasure, a hard-working, selfless and dedicated lady 📲
He said!
I know I messed up but did she have to start looking for another job the day she quitted?
Was she that tired of me?
