Nigeria Army reportedly rescues another Chibok girl after 9 years of being in Boko Haram captivity
The Nigerian Army announced the liberation of a second Chicbok schoolgirl.
According to Maj-Gen Ibrahim Ali, the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), the 25-year-old Saratu Dauda was recovered by ground forces on May 6, 2023, from terrorist hideouts in Borno state’s Sambisa forest.

General Ali revealed the following when he handed Saratu over to the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Zuwaira Gambo, yesterday (Monday) in Maiduguri: “Prior to her rescue through escape, Saratu was married to Abu Yusuf, an expert in Boko Haram’s improvised explosive devices (IEDs).”
General Ali revealed that Saratu left her three children with her forced husband behind and managed to escape the Sambisa jungle. He also stated that efforts are being made to free the other children who are still in the husband Abu Yusuf’s care.
He claimed that before being turned over to the State government, she was taken by ambulance to the Maimalari military hospital for intensive treatment.
