Nigeria Government gives dates to conduct first census in 17 years

The national population and housing census will take place from March 29 to April 1, 2023, according to the National Population Commission (NPC).

After meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Villa in Abuja on Friday, January 20, 2023, Nasir Kwarra, the NPC Chairman, revealed this while addressing with State House reporters.

Our personnel will begin counting persons in the field between March 29 and April 2, according to Kwarra.

The NPC helmsman continued by stating that the technological instruments that will be used could code buildings and landmasses, providing details about things like location and sceneries, among other things.

The NPC chairman noted that non-Nigerians would be counted equally as long as they were present in the nation at the time of the exercise and that his committee would ensure a credible exercise.

Remember that the most recent census took place in August 2006.

According to their calculation, there are 69.0 million women and 71.3 million men living in the nation.

The Nigerian population will be thoroughly counted in the upcoming 2023 census, which will be the nation’s fifth since its independence in 1960.
