Asisat Oshoala, a former Super Falcons captain, made history with the Barcelona women’s squad in the Women’s Spanish Primera Division.
The 27-year-old made history by becoming the first Nigerian to win the Pichichi award, which is given annually to the player with the most goals. She will receive the trophy alongside Brazilian Geyse Ferreira, who scored 20 goals in 27 games for Madrid CFF.
Since joining the Spanish club three seasons ago, the Nigerian has been in excellent form. In the 2019/20 season, she scored 20 goals, and in the 2020/22 season, she scored 18 goals.
Oshoala joined Barcelona in 2019 after 13 games with Arsenal’s Women’s team, where she scored just two goals. Barcelona fans will be hoping that the Nigerian finds her scoring boots in the UEFA Champions League Women’s final against Lyon on Saturday, May 21st, 2022 at Juventus Stadium.
