Nse Ikpe-Etim was born and raised in Lagos State along with her parents and siblings. She is a native of Akwa Ibom State in the South South region of Nigeria.
The legendary actress received her primary education at Kaduna’s Awa Nursery School and Command Primary School. After receiving her First School Leaving Certificate, she continued on to St. Louis College in Jos as well as the Federal Government Colleges in Jos and Ilorin.
Due to her father’s employment with the Central Bank of Nigeria, she had the opportunity to travel to many other places.
Nse Ikpe-Etim studied at the esteemed University of Calabar and earned a degree in theater arts there. She started performing after receiving her first degree.

At the age of 18, Etim started doing performances on stage at the university. She made her broadcast debut in the family drama Inheritance. After receiving her degree, she momentarily left the film industry to pursue other interests until returning in Emem Isong’s “Reloaded,” which also stars Ramsey Nouah, Rita Dominic, Ini Edo, and Desmond Elliot.

Etim is the oldest of six children. In an interview with Toolz, she disclosed that her godparents are Caucasians. On February 14, 2013, she wed Clifford Sule, a friend from her youth. A traditional wedding was celebrated first in Lagos State and then in Akwa Ibom State, where she is from, a few months following the civil union. Her husband is a well-known Middlesex University lecturer. She currently stays with her in London and frequently flies to Nigeria for filming.
On Friday, March 20, 2020, she declared that she had recently returned from the UK, which the Federal Ministry of Health noted was among the areas worst affected by the coronavirus.
