PDP Suspends senator Chimaroke Nnamani
The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) has suspended Chimaroke Nnamani, a senator from Enugu West’s senatorial constituency, along with other members.
The news was revealed by Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s press secretary, in a statement released on Friday, January 20, 2023 at night.
He claims that Nnamani and seven other people have been put on leave for engaging in “anti-party actions.”
Akerele Oluyinka, from Ekiti North I, Ajijola Lateef Oladimeji, from Ekiti Central, Emiola Adenike Jennifer, from Ekiti South II, Ajayi Babatunde Samuel, from Ekiti North II, Olayinka James Olalere, from Ekiti Central, and Fayose Oluwajomiloju John are the others suspended (Ekiti Central I).
In order to successfully complete its task to rescue, rebuild, and reroute the country away from misrule, the PDP asked all leaders, significant stakeholders, and the party’s thronging people across the nation to remain unified.
The ban comes just 35 days before the general elections in 2023 and coincides with the major opposition party’s current dilemma.
Recall that a group of governors, now known as the G5, led by the governor of the state of Rivers, Nyesom Wike, vowed not to campaign for the party’s nominee, Atiku Abubakar.
They insisted that they won’t budge from their position unless Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national head, resigns. The disgruntled governors said that the Northern zone of the party possesses an excessive amount of power and that things needed to proceed properly.
