See the Agreement Reached by the Federal Government and the Governors Concerning Amotekun

The federal government and the south west governors who had formed the security outfit called Amotekun has reached an agreement regarding the controversial operation.


The six governors had sought a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, but due to his foreign engagement, he had delegated the Vice President, Prof. Yomi Osinbajo to sit and deliberate on his behalf.

And so eventually, this meeting which had taken place with the Governors who had launched the security outfit, the Attorney General of the Federation, the Inspector General of Police, the Vice President, Yomi Osinbajo and some others privilege guests all present had ended fruitfully with agreement finally reached as stated below.

 “Having regard to the need for all hands to be on deck in addressing the security concerns across the country, it was agreed that the structure of Amotekun should also align with the Community Policy Strategy of the Federal Government.

It was also agreed that necessary legal instruments will be out in place by each of the states to give legal backing to the initiative and address all issues concerning the regulation of the security structure.”

Speaking about the success of the meeting, the Vice President, Prof. Yomi Osinbajo tweeted this evening saying: Fruitful and unanimous resolutions

were made on the way forward in a meeting today with South West Governors, the Attorney General

of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police over the controversy surrounding the Amotekun Initiative.
