People are increasingly offering foreign currency to hawkers in Lagos as payment for goods purchased.
In a video, a man is seen offering a teenage hawker $100 in exchange for a local food that costs 200 Naira. The boy wanted N200 and $100, but the customer stated that he did not have N200.
The hawker then refused the dollar note since he didn’t recognize its worth and requested that the client instead give him N200.
The man tried to explain that a hundred dollars is worth more than N50,000, but the hawker was hesitant to accept it, so he suggested that the customer go change it first.
After the haggling, the man returned the items he had purchased and opted to depart with his $100.
