Tension as 80-yr-old grandmother raped to death by palm wine tapper in Ondo State
At Ore, in the Odigbo council area of Ondo state, it has been claimed that an 80-year-old woman was raped to death by suspected hoodlums, including a palm wine tapper.
The unpleasant incident that took place on her farm in the Costain area of Oregon has alarmed the locals.
The woman had been missing for days after leaving for the farm, according to a local who spoke with newsmen, before her body was discovered a few days later.
After being raped, she apparently had to be stripped naked.
Several women have been raped in their farms by these hoodlums, who are thought to be herdsmen, according to a source in the town: “This is not the first time we’re witnessing this horrific crime.
Women have been unable to visit their farms by themselves for a while due to their fear of being attacked. We in the neighborhood were unable to determine why they targeted this elderly woman.
The elderly woman was allegedly raped before to being slain by her attacker at her farm. What would have drawn them to a woman in her 80s? They only squandered her. Perhaps several of her assailants knew her, which is why they killed her. Her horrific death was heartbreaking and regrettable.
“We request assistance from the state government and security agencies in Oregon. The hoodlums are taking advantage of our women and having a field day. The state security force known as Amotekun should be deployed to our neighborhood with assistance from our friendly governor Rotimi Akeredolu. We’re sincerely pleading with him.
Meanwhile, a police source reported that Sunday, a suspect who taps palm wine, had been taken into custody.
It was discovered that some neighborhood youngsters had taken the suspect into custody.
They allegedly discovered the victim’s phone in his hands.
According to a police source, the suspect afterwards escorted the kids to the scene of the victim’s death and claimed that some herders had killed her.
The culprit was arrested, and Funmi Odunlami, the state police image maker, added that the incident involved rape and murder.
Odunlami stated that after questioning, the suspect will be paraded by the state police command before being charged in court.
