This is the biggest passenger ship ever built in the world

Have you ever imagined what being on the biggest ship in the world looks like?

Let me give a brief description to help you imagine; 10 floors, rooms 5-star hotel standards, swimming pool, surf simulators, elevators, and balconies. It is pretty much the same feeling as staying in one of the biggest hotels in the world, only that you get to do this on the sea.

Oasis of the Seas along with Allure of the Seas and Harmony of the Seas, formerly known as Project Genesis, are the largest passenger ships or cruise ships in existence made by Royal Carribean company. They were built in 2009, 2010 and 2015 respectively. This post took a look at the biggest of the three – Harmony of The Seas

Harmony of The Seas is 1,188 ft long, 215.5 ft wide and 226,963 GRT can accommodate a maximum of 6,780 passengers in addition to its 2,394 crew members. It is also one of the fastest of big ships at 22.6 knots (41.9 km/h; 26.0 mph) with a gross tonnage of 225,282 GT. Harmony of the Seas homeports in Barcelona, Spain and embarked on the first of 34 seven-night sailings in the western Mediterranean on June 7, 2016.

Harmony of the Seas was built by STX France at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France for Royal Caribbean and took 32 months to complete, it is estimated to have cost over € 1 billion to build making it not only the biggest cruise ship in the world but also the most expensive ever built.

The sea beast is built with more than enough recreational activities to keep families occupied for weeks on end. The ships incorporate two FlowRider surf simulators, a zip line that is 25 m (82 ft) across and nine decks high, an ice-skating rink, two 13 m (43 ft) high rock-climbing walls, swimming pools, a full-sized basketball court, and even a water park.

For every 7-day cruise, the ship is loaded with: 9,700 lbs of chicken; 5,000 dozen eggs; 15,000 lbs of beef; 700 lbs of ice cream; 20,000 lbs of potatoes; 2,100 lbs of lobster tails; 12,600 lbs of flour, 2,500 lbs of salmon; 5,0000 lbs of french fries; 5,300 lbs of bacon. 110,000 lbs of ice cubes are made each day and 479,314 gallons of fresh water is consumed every 24 hours. Harmony carries 40 brands of beer, 340 brands of wine and 127 specialty cocktails. There are 40 varieties of fruit and 80 kinds of vegetables. It is really a luxury getting on board Harmony of the Seas.
